Co-op Cycle: June 22nd, 2026 - August 28th, 2026
Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

We are searching for our next group of Facilities Engineering Co-ops for a summer 2026 assignment at our Beverly, MA, facility. Our Co-op program is designed to develop early career talent and build a strong pipeline of future Facility Engineers. Students gain hands-on exposure, work on real projects, and make meaningful contributions. Throughout the program, Co-ops build technical skills, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and gain real-world experience that enhances both their academic learning and future career opportunities.
About the Role
The Facility Engineer Co-op supports the Facilities Engineering team in the planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of building systems and infrastructure. This role provides hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, utilities, and building automation systems while assisting with technical projects, documentation, and facility performance analysis.
This position is ideal for engineering students pursuing a career in facilities engineering, mechanical systems, reliability engineering, or operations support.
What You'll Do
At Axcelis, you will work with multiple positions within the Facilities department, exposing you to work at all levels of the department, such as:
  • Facilities Engineer Level -

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) items and inspections using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Perform machinery space rounds, equipment rotation, and system monitoring

  • RO/DI skid, Grade 4I Wastewater Treatment Plant, Process Water

  • Assist in troubleshooting and unexpected repairs of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems with licensed technicians

  • Supervisor Level -

  • Oversee day-to-day site operation

  • Grounds, Security & Janitorial needs

  • Special events, hazards, operations

  • Operate and monitor multiple sites using the Building Management System (BMS)

  • Life Safety systems - sprinklers, fire/toxic alarm systems, toxic exhaust, emergency power distribution

  • Central Utility Building (CUB) Boiler/Chiller Plant

  • ICO Classes 4-7 Clean Room HVAC operation & monitoring

  • Utilities - water, electric, natural gas, liquid bulk gas tanks

  • Ensure compliance with local/state/federal regulations, inspections & certificates

  • Continuous improvement projects

  • Management Level -

  • Departmental expense and controllable budgets

  • Master planning and large capital expenditure project budgeting

  • Contracted maintenance agreements

  • Department staffing, managing people & leading teams

  • Corporate goal execution

What We're Looking For
  • Applicants must be candidates for a Bachelor of Science degree in Facilities Engineering.

  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment. Experience using tools including hand/power tools, precision measurement and diagnostic tools

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols (LOTO, PPE, etc.)

  • Works well with others and has a willingness to learn

  • Ability to apply mechanical principles in a real-world environment

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE
$20.42 - $35.70
This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.
Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on
multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work
location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as
you develop within the role.
Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the
Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular
employees working 20+ hours a week).
