Job description

As a NX CAD/NX Open Customization Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will support and drive Model Based Enterprise (MBE) & Model Bases System Engineering (MBSE) initiatives across the Honeywell Aerospace enterprise.
Seeking candidates withstrong Design & Development experience. This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring deep understanding of the Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Systems Engineering design & simulation communities, with the ability to align engineering technology platforms to Honeywell Aerospace Global Design Model (GDM) tools. The role focuses on model-centric engineering, Systems Engineering, CAD automation, design-solution development, CAD migrations, and M&A&D initiatives, enabling digital engineering transformation and strengthening the enterprise digital thread.
You will report directly to our Sr IT Manager and you'll work on a hybrid work schedule out of our Phoenix, Arizona site. Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive Model Based Enterprise (MBE) implementation using NX, CREO, or similar design tools as the authoritative source of product definition.
  • Perform advanced mechanical design and configuration of complex aerospace systems in alignment with Honeywell Aerospace GDM standards.
  • Enable model-centric engineering workflows by integrating mechanical simulation with design to support early design decisions and validation.
  • Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics teams using ECAD/EDA tools to ensure seamless electro-mechanical integration.
  • Establish and maintain the digital thread across design, simulation, manufacturing, and sustainment using Teamcenter PLM.
  • Drive and support CAD migration and translation initiatives, ensuring data integrity, model quality, and standards compliance.
  • Support M&A&D (Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestitures) programs, including engineering system integration, CAD data harmonization, and tool alignment.
  • Develop and deploy programmatic design solutions, CAD customizations, and automation to improve engineering efficiency and accelerate MBE adoption.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Mechanical Design & Development, preferably within the Aerospace domain.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • Exposure to PLM tools for lifecycle management, configuration control, and engineering change management.
  • Strong hands-on programming experience in CAD customization, specifically using CREO (Toolkit/JLink) or Siemens NX (NX Open - Python/Java/C++).
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical Design tools used in complex engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of EDA tools, supporting electronics and electro-mechanical design integration.
  • Knowledge on Mechanical Simulation tools and model-based analysis workflows.
  • Strong expertise in Model Based Enterprise (MBE) concepts, implementation, and governance.
  • Proven experience in CAD migrations and data translations across engineering platforms.
  • Experience supporting or driving M&A&D (Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestitures) engineering initiatives.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Go-getter mindset, demonstrating ownership, initiative, and strong execution focus on a technical IC role.

  • Working knowledge of SysML or similar system modeling languages, with experience using MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Rhapsody, Capella, or equivalent.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining end-to-end digital thread connecting requirements, functional architecture, physical design, analysis, and verification artifacts.
  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary system modeling, including mechanical, electrical, software, and electronics domains, within complex aerospace or safety-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with requirements management and verification planning within an MBSE context, supporting design validation and compliance objectives.
  • Experience contributing to engineering transformation or digitalization programs, leveraging MBE and MBSE together to modernize product development practices.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to bridge system-level intent and detailed design implementation.
