Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Physical Security Systems Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, integration, and lifecycle management of enterprise physical security technologies. This role will engage in architecture and engineering efforts across video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, perimeter security, and identity integrations, with a strong emphasis on cloud-managed systems and identity integration.
  • Design and engineer enterprise-wide physical security systems including:
  • Video Surveillance (IP-based camera systems)
  • Access Control (cloud and on-prem)
  • Intrusion Detection & Alarm Systems
  • License Plate Recognition (LPR)
  • Intercom and Visitor Management Systems
  • Architect and manage Security System environments (cameras, access control, sensors, intercoms).

Support integrations for:
  • SSO (Single Sign-On)
  • SCIM user provisioning
  • Role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Conditional Access policies
  • Help support standardized naming conventions, device deployment standards, and system documentation.
  • Ensure system scalability for multi-site/global deployments.
  • Design secure PoE and network topology for cameras and controllers.
  • Configure VLAN segmentation for security devices.

Collaborate with network engineers to:
  • Implement QoS policies
  • Ensure proper bandwidth planning
  • Maintain secure firewall rules

Understand and support:
  • DNS, DHCP, NTP
  • TLS certificates
  • Secure device enrollment
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1-Layer 3 network issues affecting security systems.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer networking, Information Systems or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in physical security systems engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with cameras and/or access control.
  • Experience integrating systems with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) or similar environments.

Strong understanding of:
  • IP networking fundamentals
  • PoE / PoE+
  • VLANs and firewall configurations
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Experience with SAML, SCIM, OAuth, or similar authentication protocols.

Knowledge of access control hardware:
  • Door controllers
  • Badge readers
  • REX devices
  • Electrified locks
  • Crash bars and maglocks
  • Ability to read and create wiring diagrams and network schematics.
  • Knowledge of physical security standards and compliance (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST 800).
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of network design and function.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and cloud environments.
  • Certifications in Lenel, Verkada, CCure, Genetec and Avigilon.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • This role will require working in construction zones. Up to 50% travel is expected and extended hours may be necessary to support mission-critical operations.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., system hardware).
  • Climbing ladders or entering a scissor lift to work at heights.
