Job description

Cisco Network Engineer Location: Austin, TX (On-site - North Austin, 78754) local or close to client side Duration: 12 Months (Contract - Likely to extend) Any visa , no h1, opt ead Sr. Network Engineer to support a major communication network upgrade initiative for a key client in the Austin area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki technologies, strong network programming and maintenance skills, and a solid understanding of cybersecurity best practices. This is a fully on-site position offering a long-term opportunity to work on high-impact network infrastructure projects. Hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki networking, Ethernet switching, RADIUS, SNMP, and cybersecurity best practices, with active CCNA certification. Key Responsibilities
  • Program and maintain core network switches to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Design and implement a deployment plan for 900+ EtherWAN switches across the network.
  • Configure and manage a RADIUS server for secure authentication.
  • Set up and maintain an SNMP network management system for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate on cybersecurity policy development and updates, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Work with clients to integrate Active Directory Authentication and Federation for external user access.
  • Participate in ongoing network upgrades, maintenance, and documentation efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • Active CCNA certification
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki networking technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Ethernet switching, RADIUS, SNMP, and network security principles
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex enterprise network systems
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCNP certification
  • Prior military experience or work with government/secured networks
  • Experience in developing and enforcing cybersecurity policies
Background Check: Must pass an extensive fingerprinting and security background check
