Job description

Overview
SCCI is seeking a highly skilled Tactical Network Engineer to join our team in support of a Weapon System Program. In this role, you will work closely with the Electrical, Embedded Software, and Test Engineering teams. This is an onsite position, available for immediate hire and is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document the overall network architecture plan for tactical operations. Collaborate with the Hardware Engineering and System Engineering teams to implement and setup the network architecture. Collaborate with Hardware Test and System Test teams to troubleshoot and maintain the network
  • Design secure, scalable, and resilient network infrastructure to support real-time communications and data transfer
  • Implement and oversee network configurations, hardware installations, and upgrades
  • Manage network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability
  • Implement robust network security measures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access
  • Ensure network architectures comply with military standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with operational teams to integrate network solutions with various systems, including sensors, communication systems, and external databases
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between different tactical systems
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in networking technology, military standards, and best practices
  • Continuously evaluate and improve network architecture solutions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Communicate and interface in a professional manner with both engineers and program leadership
  • Participate in the integration and assessment of tactical systems conducted locally and remotely
  • Verify network configurations before product deployment to customer

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or Advanced Post-Secondary diploma in one of the following preferred disciplines:
    • Network Administration & Security

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT Management, specifically in network architecture or a related role with a focus on tactical or military environments
  • Specialized Experience shall include three (3) years of full-time professional experience working in an IT capacity supporting the DoD or the Department of the Navy; demonstrated familiarity with DoD systems such as Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) and scanning tools such as Retina or Nessus

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Active TS/SCI
  • Expertise in network topologies, network protocols, routing and switching, network addressing and subnetting, network security, wireless networking, Radio Frequency (RF) principles, and wireless communication
  • Experience designing a tactical network and implementing solutions at the network switch level
  • Experience with Virtual LANs, port forwarding, traffic isolation, and STIG conformance
  • Hands-on experience with radios, network devices, cabling and cabling standards, operating systems and network management tools
  • Experience integrating and testing networked capabilities on tactical assets
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools and techniques, especially with radios
  • Ability to verify and validate network and communication systems capabilities and settings
  • Ability to generate comprehensive communications and network configuration and assessment reports
  • Ability to understand hardware and software designs, interfaces, and architectures to support customer platform configuration validations and BMS configurations on customer platform validations
  • Ability to travel to support integration, test events, and any other project required events or meetings
  • Ability to balance multiple task sets and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with military communication systems, DoD standards and regulations
  • IAM Level I certified in accordance with DoD 8570.01 or the successor
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in network architecture or a related role, with a focus on tactical or military environments
