Responsibilities:

  • Originate engineering graphics using a variety of modeling data, Mapping, GIS, I-models, 3D parametric modeling and advanced processing for 3D imagery (point clouds, reality meshes, digital terrain models and raster imagery).
  • Drape imagery on terrain models.
  • Derive a variety of quantities from Surface and Solid model formats.
  • Read, interpret and input current modeling data from a variety of electronic data collectors, GPS, ArcGIS, ASCII, LiDAR and a host of nationally recognized data formats.
  • Model and analyze any type of terrain feature including tunnels.
  • Follow Shannon & Wilson's Quality Assurance policy.
  • Follow and promote Shannon & Wilson’s Health & Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with Rail and civil works projects a plus.
  • 5 to 9 years of experience
  • Autodesk/Civil3d and/or OpenRoads Designer
  • Must be very familiar with National CAD Standards, CAD, A/E/C CAD Standards.
  • Proficient in file management software, ProjectWise v8i.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Acrobat Adobe Professional.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Personable, flexible, and professional demeanor.
  • The ability to work independently with the appropriate level of OR minimal supervision.
  • The willingness and ability to travel to support the needs of other Shannon & Wilson offices.
  • A valid driver license and insurable driving record.
  • Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel (required); MS Access (desirable).
  • Critical thinking and analysis.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying 30+ pounds.
  • Working in all weather conditions, on uneven terrain.
  • The ability to travel (drive or fly) to field sites per project needs and job sites locally and out of state.


Level Placement

Typically, depending on an applicant’s education, experience, other qualifications they possess, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs, a Mid-Level CAD Technician typically would be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Technical Services III or IV level compensated at $33.00 to $42.50 per hour.
