Job Summary:
Provides leadership for EvergreenHealth volunteers and supports operational excellence of the EvergreenHealth volunteer program. Responsible for processing volunteer applications, interviewing and placing applicants, and orientating and training volunteers. Provides mentorship and customer service training to EvergreenHealth information desk volunteers and supports internal customer service excellence initiative. Responsible for information desk volunteer orientation, updates, and ongoing training. Assists with Volunteer Services administrative duties, including record keeping, and database management and special projects. Works closely with staff throughout EvergreenHealth to develop meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Primary Duties:
1. Responds to inquiries from people in the community and hospital departments regarding volunteer opportunities.
2. Processes volunteer applications, schedules interviews, and places prospective volunteers in appropriate positions.
3. Provides onboarding and general orientation for new volunteers. Coordinates training for department specific volunteers and provides wheelchair training as needed. Tracks organizational training and assessments.
4. Ensures volunteers are compliant with applicable department competencies and hospital policies, including volunteers complete required immunizations with Employee Health.
5. Responds to volunteer requests for schedule changes and other inquiries. Works with hospital staff and volunteers to resolve issues and concerns with assignment and/or shift changes.
6. Notifies hospital departments of volunteer absences. Tracks and monitors volunteer attendance, identifying patterns of concern such as frequent absence.
7. Collaborates with hospital departments to identify departmental needs for volunteers. Assists and follows up with hospital departments regarding new volunteer requests.
8. Assists leadership with marketing of volunteer program services, recruitment of volunteers, and management of volunteer records. Conducts audits and prepares applicable reports.
9. Assists with the administrative duties of Volunteer Office, which may include but are not limited to data entry, preparation of reports, typing, handling phone calls, and database management.
10. Assists leadership in developing and implementing innovative volunteer programs within the hospital, clinics, and the community.
11. Coordinates and leads volunteers assigned to staff the information desks to ensure a positive patient experience and support operational excellence.
12. Maintains Information Desk policies, procedures, and training resources.
13. Coordinates volunteer schedules and tracks volunteer attendance.
14. Conducts information desk training for new volunteers. Tracks organizational training and assessments of information desk volunteers.
15. Provides guidance, coaching and performance feedback to Information Desk volunteers. Demonstrates best practices to promote a culture of customer service excellence, professional guest-centered interactions, adherence to established standards and the consistent delivery of a positive and efficient guest experience.
16. Responds to guest, volunteer, and operational concerns about the Information Desk. When necessary, assesses patient and visitor needs and activates appropriate emergency response protocols.
17. Ensures volunteers are compliant with applicable department competencies and hospital policies.
18. Supports the Gift Shop as needed.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
High school graduate or equivalent
2 years of related volunteer experience
2 years of customer service experience
