Our practice boasts a team of 19 fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons specializing in various subspecialities. We are committed to excellence and continued growth, offering comprehensive services including onsite Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy, MRI, and digital X-ray. We prioritize patient care and strive for the highest standards of service.
Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida's state-of-the-art, 60,000 square-foot facility incorporates the latest in leading-edge technology in order to provide optimal care for patients who have bone, joint, muscle and spine problems. Our office includes a full Physical Therapy and Occupational/Hand Therapy division, which work in close coordination with our physicians to provide non-operative, preoperative, post-operative and preventive care.
Job Title: MRI Technologist
Department: MRI
Exempt Status: Nonexempt
Position Status (FT/PT/PRN): PRN
Reports To: Supervisor MRI Technologist
Supervises: N/A
Job Summary: Perform magnetic resonance imaging in an office setting. This position will have unrestricted access to protected health information (PHI) pertaining to patients.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform all magnetic resonance imaging as ordered by a physician (including contrast exams)
  • Properly assess the patient before imaging
  • Review safety paperwork and explain testing to the patient
  • Communicate between radiologist and doctor
  • Properly complete encounter forms
  • Schedule patients for examination using the computer
  • Order supplies as required
  • Clean and stock MRI department
  • Adhere to all equipment standards and care

Core Competences:
  • Responsible for promoting the Standards of Excellence for Orthopedic Specialists while demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior toward patients, visitors, volunteers, peers and physicians
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment, demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize work during heavy workload situations to expedite patient care
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
  • Work independently while understanding the need to communicate and coordinate work efforts with other employees and organizations

Minimum Requirements (education, experience, special skills and licenses or certifications required):
  • Minimum of 3-5 years MRI experience
  • Maintain active status with ARRT (American Registry of Radiological Technologist)
  • Active ARRT MRI National Certification
  • Computer Literate - Windows environment, Electronic Medical Records, Radiology software
  • Ability to perform essential duties
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, equipment, procedures, instruments and common safety hazards and precautions
  • CPR Certification
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate proper telephone etiquette

Essential Physical Functions:
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
  • Occasionally carrying supplies, squatting, and bending
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, and other office equipment as necessary
  • Ability to view computer screens for long periods of time
