Job description

Overview
The Laboratory Assistant works as a phlebotomist and a specimen processor. This position handles samples coming into the laboratory and also samples that need to be sent out to a reference lab.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in collecting samples, checking in patients, and other phlebotomy area duties. This duty is performed as daily.
  • Take telephone messages and responds appropriately. Deliver, telephone, or fax reports. This duty is performed daily.
  • Process and prepare in-coming samples, shipping of samples, add-ons, and storage. This duty is performed daily.
  • Package samples for pick by our reference laboratory.
  • Scan and maintain files of appropriate laboratory documents. This duty is performed daily.
  • Be proficient in working with appropriate computer applications. This duty is performed daily.

Qualifications:
  • Current phlebotomy certification is desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
