What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Laboratory Technician to provide custom engineering solutions and advanced equipment maintenance. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Rockville, MD.
  • Support the operation of bioprinters. Lend expertise in configuration design of new equipment purchases when needed. Assist with mechanical difficulties or computer software issues as needed.

  • Provide custom engineering solutions for 3DTBL and DPI 2.

  • Identify and implement advanced specialized technologies for functional measurements in 3D tissue models, e.g. muscle contraction.

  • Perform a variety of laboratory techniques and procedures.

  • Prepare materials and equipment for experiments.

  • Work with a variety of routine and specialized laboratory instruments and equipment in the laboratory.

  • Perform advanced equipment maintenance.

  • Work with staff on the maintenance of laboratory logs and databases.

  • Ensure that supplies and consumables are ready and on hand as necessary for maximum efficiency in the laboratory.

  • Perform fundamental procedures required for research projects.

  • Order and maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment.

  • Monitor equipment performance and maintenance schedules.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.

  • Coordinate general laboratory maintenance, including equipment upkeep and calibration.

  • Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on and generate maintenance reports for equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.

  • Monitor and maintain contracts for laboratory equipment and monitor equipment performance and maintenance schedule.

  • Analyze documents and reports on all procedures performed and produce detailed reports for use by senior staff.

  • Contribute to manuscript writing as needed.

  • Provide insights and expertise to recommend new strategies and approaches.

  • Prepare reports and summaries; prepare data for presentation at laboratory meetings.

  • Write reports detailing experiments and data analysis; produce publication quality graphs.

  • Provide training to new users on the operation and software of bioprinters.

  • Provide technical help and expertise to lab members.

  • Train new laboratory members in the correct use of equipment, including calibration and maintenance; application of techniques; and laboratory protocols.

What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in general medical and health services or related discipline.

  • At least TWO (2) years of Laboratory Technician experience.

  • Knowledge of advanced specialized functional measurements in 3D tissue models, such as muscle contraction, 3D printing, 3D bioprinting, CAD design, Fluoresce microscopy or prototyping.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Need to be familiar with CAD and image analysis software.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $49,000.00-$81,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
