Job description

Pride Health is hiring a Lab Assistant - 3rd Shiftย to support our clientโ€™s medical facility in Gaithersburg MD 20877. This is a 2+ months with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Title: Lab Assistant - 3rd Shift

Location: Gaithersburg MD 20877

Pay Rate: $20 - $24.14/hr. on W2.

Shift: 12:00am-8:30am Tuesday-Saturday with a rotating Sunday.

Duration: 2+ months

*Pay Rate is based on experience and educational qualifications.

The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role is ideal for candidates with strong data entry skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specimen processing tasks including accessioning (A-station), presorting, centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging/microfilming, and transporting specimens to the laboratory.
  • Accurately enter specimen and patient information while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Learn and identify various specimen types and corresponding laboratory tests.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and test-ordering regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety and compliance guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and adapt to changing priorities in a production-based environment.
  • Be flexible to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong data entry skills with the ability to achieve 6,000+ alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Previous laboratory, healthcare, or specimen processing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Hospital laboratory or production environment experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a biohazard laboratory environment while following all safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
