THRIVE Teacher Assistant - THRIVE PROGRAM


Job Title: THRIVE Teacher Assistant - THRIVE Program Reports To: Building Principal Classification: Paraprofessional (Clerical/Teacher Assistant) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 188 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional/Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 203 Contract: None Date Revised: 4/22/2024 Primary Purpose: The Spring Branch THRIVE Program allows individuals to engage in the world of teaching in partnership with Spring Branch ISD while working toward degree requirements and teacher certification completion. The THRIVE Teacher Assistant position assists teacher(s)in the implementation of District educational programs and activities under the teacher(s) direction.  Upon successful completion of the THRIVE Program, individuals will be placed in classroom teaching positions.  SBISD THRIVE Program participants must commit to continued employment in SBISD for a minimum of 3 years following completion of the THRIVE Program. Qualifications/Skills:

Education/Certification:

  • Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
  • Educational Aide Certification.
  • Willing to enroll in and complete education degree requirements and teaching certifications of the THRIVE Program.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work with children.
  • Ability to work and communicate with children and adults.
  • Ability to work with technology.
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:

Instructional Support:

  • Adhere to Texas Education Agency and district policies and procedures.
  • Assist in implementing the instructional program.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment.
  • Assist in proper classroom management and implement daily schedule.
  • Assist in record keeping and clerical duties.
  • Assist teachers in the computer lab.
  • Assist in communicating with parents.

Student Management:

  • Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills and concepts.
  • Assist with testing of students for program purposes.

Other:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform related duties (lunchroom supervision, bus duty, etc.) as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
  • This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands:

  • Repetitive hand motions.
  • Prolonged use of the computer.
  • Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
  • Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
