Role: Robotics Hardware Technician III


Job Summary:


The Robotics Hardware Technician III is a senior technical role responsible for the ownership of hardware subsystems.This individual bridges the gap between engineering design and physical implementation, building prototypes, selecting components, and leading troubleshooting efforts for complex robotic cells.

Ideal Candidates:The ideal candidate should be comfortable with travel 60-70% of the time and have prior experience with hand tools and basic power tools. ASE/Mechanics are encouraged to apply. This role will require travel between the Seattle, WA location and the Spokane, WA location. Please let us know if you have the ability to also travel for short term work (up to 90 day trip) in Germany or other locations outside of the US (not required).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and modification of mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems (brackets, EOAT, mounts, harnessing) with limited guidance.
  • Execute tasks with professional ownership, taking pride in the quality of work and demonstrating respect for the broader engineering goals.
  • Select components such as motors, sensors, and connectors for defined subsystems.
  • Proactively balance performance, cost, and availability requirements during the selection process.
  • Build and bring up prototypes, integrating hardware with controls and software.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to testing by running functional/performance tests and iterating designs based on results before issues become critical blockers.
  • Lead troubleshooting for complex hardware issues within a cell or product area.
  • Coordinate effectively with technicians, software, and controls engineers, ensuring updates are communicated clearly to maintain team alignment.
  • Produce and maintain accurate drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
  • Utilize Agile methodologies and project management tools to manage team scheduling and track resolution progress.
  • Lead teams in implementing Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes, focusing on install sequencing and hardware sequence optimization.
  • Inspire respect and motivation within the team through demonstrated technical competence.
  • Actively develop a Subject Matter Expert (SME) skillset in a specific domain of expertise.
  • Provide constructive feedback to engineers to support continuous improvement and design refinement.


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in Engineering Technology or Robotics preferred; Bachelors degree in a related field is a plus
  • 1+ years of experience in robotics R&D, automation, or hardware integration
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex technical and electrical schematics
  • Hands-on experience with Solidworks CAD for viewing and performing minor edits helpful
  • Strong technical knowledge of component selection and mechatronics
  • Leadership capability to coordinate cross-functional troubleshooting efforts
  • Strong analytical skills for design validation and technical problem-solving
  • Demonstrated work ethic and a history of reliable attendance
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a cohesive team environment
  • Ability to follow instructions from an engineer or supervisor precisely and consistently
  • Possess a friendly and collaborative demeanor to work effectively as part of a team
