Position Location
This position will be located onsite at NASA/White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will support the efforts of Base Facilities Maintenance & Operations, Design Engineering, and BIM-CAD-GIS activities as a Planner/Scheduler. This candidate will serve as the customer service focal point prioritizing and coordinating maintenance and repair requirement with customers, branch managers, trade supervisors and government representatives within available budget. Evaluate job requirements to determine materials, processes and coordination necessary to safely execute work. Products would include job estimates and work packages ready for execution. Perform moderately complex assignments that require initiative and independent judgment in the selection and use of established principles and procedures. Support the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the contract.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Uses independent judgement gained from experience, education and training to perform planning and scheduling functions for base operation electrical utilities, preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of various distribution systems.
  • Prepare cost estimates; prepare purchase requisitions and expedite delivery.
  • Frequently communicates and coordinates with supervisors and engineering staff regarding planning for upcoming maintenance jobs, gathers appropriate documentation related such as drawings, procedures, checklists that include a safe plan.
  • Consults with trade personnel to seek advice on unusual circumstances.
  • Uses considerable creativity and judgment to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard engineering methods, procedures and techniques may not be applicable.
  • Reviews estimates for compliance with overall project objectives.
  • Determines available equipment resources are adequate and if not, researches and includes in estimate the item, source of equipment, rental time frame and price.
  • Periodic trips to the site of work to gather information and specifications from customers and co-workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

  • Having the ability to work well under pressure.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities, utilities maintenance, construction or planning/coordinating discipline or other related equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings/schematics.
  • Two (2) years customer service experience.
  • Use of MS Office Tools at a competent level.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required level clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred:
  • Associate degree or (5) years of work coordination, planning, scheduling and estimating.
  • Experience with Maximo.

Working Conditions:
  • Desk/office work and test area work.
  • Position may require individual to travel to different areas on site.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
  • Work hours are subject to change, with weekend and/or holiday work as needed. May be required to work outside normal duty hours.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed primarily in an office setting. This job may involve walking, standing, bending, reaching, and handling items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
  • May be required to wear breathing protection (respirator), hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
