Position Overview:
As an Engineering Co-op at Canton Drop Forge, you will work closely with our engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and production optimization initiatives. This hands-on role will provide you with valuable experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, allowing you to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Improvement: Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Time and Motion Studies: Conduct time and motion studies to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce cycle times.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices, including 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Equipment Layout and Design: Assist in the design and optimization of equipment layouts to improve workflow and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Project Support: Participate in cross-functional teams to support various engineering and production projects, including new product development and process optimization initiatives.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all process improvements and engineering activities comply with safety standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
