Job description

Engineering Intern

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to support our manufacturing and packaging operations by observing, documenting, and improving production processes. This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in engineering who is interested in hands-on manufacturing experience, process improvement, and technical documentation.
The intern will work closely with engineering, production, quality, and operations teams to create clear and accurate work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation that support consistent, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shadow manufacturing and packaging personnel to learn current production workflows and procedures
  • Observe and document equipment setup, operation, changeover, cleaning, and packaging processes
  • Develop and update work instructions, SOPs, visual aids, process flow diagrams, checklists, and training materials
  • Take photographs and create visual documentation to improve clarity and usability of instructions
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, quality personnel, and engineers to ensure documentation accuracy
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for process standardization and continuous improvement
  • Organize and maintain controlled documentation files and revision records
  • Support engineering projects and manufacturing improvement initiatives as assigned

QualificationsRequired

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred

  • Experience with technical writing or documentation
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, packaging, or regulated environments
  • Experience with CAD, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar diagramming tools
  • Interest in process improvement, Lean manufacturing, or quality systems
