Position Overview
The adjunct faculty member will teach courses in Engineering andEngineering Technology including Statistics, Dynamics, Introduction to Engineering, and AutoCAD. Electrical/Electronics and Computer Engineers would teach additional courses including: Direct Current Circuits, C for Engineers, Alternate Current Circuits, Microprocessors. Electronics I and II, Digital Circuits, and Circuits Analysis, Civil Engineers would teach additional courses including: Surveying, and Computing/Estimating, Mechanical Engineers would teach additional courses including: Air Conditioning, Industrial Safety, Pneumatics, Motors and Generators, and SolidWorks.
Courses may be taught in an array of teaching modalities: MDC In-Person, MDC Live (Learning Interactively in a Virtual Environment), MDC Online (online delivery) and Blended Classes
What you will be doing
  • Provides classroom instruction
  • Revisies and develops new curriculum
  • Develops and implements assessment activities to measure student learning outcomes
  • Develops and teaches online courses
  • Recruits, advises and evaluates students
  • Teaches Dual Enrollment classes
  • Prepares and writes grants for the Department of Engineering
  • Participates in departmental, campus and college committees
  • Teaches engineering and engineering technology courses college wide
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • Master's degree in Engineering; or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering
  • All educational degrees must be from a regional accredited institution
  • Must have passion for teaching in engineering
  • Posesses excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to use innovative teaching techniques
  • Familiarity with distance learning and willingness to use technology tools in instruction
  • Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student centered methods of instruction
  • Ability to work well with students and collegues in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
Preferences
  • Minimum two (2) years college teaching experience
  • Minimum two (2) years related industrial experience
  • Computing and Electronics knowledge highly desirable
