FUNCTION:

Perform the work necessary to build and/or disassemble a variety of production, experimental and overhaul gas turbine engines,

modules, subassemblies and accessories. Follow specified work instructions including operation sheets, blue prints, computer

generated work instructions, assembly drawings and engineering bulletins to assure compliance with requirements.

Weekend Shift: (Sat, Sun, Mon 6am - 6pm)

What You Will Do:

  • Under the direction of leader/supervisor follow specified work instructions to select, set up and use appropriate hand, power, and specialized assembly/disassembly tooling and fixtures to perform various tasks in support of departmental goals.
  • Follow specified procedures to set up and perform static balance operations on rotating engine parts.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and gages to check and calculate assembly dimensions as required by assembly instructions. Make adjustments to tools and equipment as necessary to perform the work and to meet process requirements.
  • Visually check parts, subassemblies and engine sections for proper identification, overall condition, and proper installation of details. Check build records for correctness and completeness; enter required data on engine history record sheets and/or computer systems.
  • Perform the mechanical duties necessary to assist on co-producer, customer support and retrofit projects to accommodate engineering changes. Assist others responsible to identify problem areas and recommend corrective actions to expedite the resolution of assembly or tooling problems.
  • Utilize established methods and procedures to perform visual and dimensional inspection to verify the proper assembly of modules and sub-assemblies. Perform bench inspection of overhaul detail parts to identify nonconformance. Coordinate parts for processing through overhaul or repair operations.
  • Refer difficulties to leader/supervisor.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills.
  • May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications as required for assigned area.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent & formal training in a specialized field achieving A&P license or equivalent OR 4 years of technical high school including technical post high school certification and 5+ years of heavy automotive experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience as an aerospace mechanic or A&P mechanic preferred.

  • 3 + years avionics mechanic experience.
