Computer Admin information

How much does a computer administrator make?

Computer administrators typically earn a median annual salary of around $70,000, though this can vary based on experience, certifications, and location. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced administrators with specialized skills or certifications can earn over $100,000 annually.

What does a computer administrator do?

A computer administrator manages and maintains an organization's computer systems, including servers, networks, and user accounts. They install, update, and troubleshoot hardware and software, ensure security protocols are followed, and often use tools like network monitoring software. Strong technical skills and certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Microsoft Certified are common requirements.

Will sysadmin be replaced by AI?

Computer administrators, or sysadmins, perform tasks such as managing networks, servers, and security systems. While AI and automation tools can handle routine tasks, sysadmins are still needed for complex problem-solving, system design, and oversight, making complete replacement unlikely in the near future.

Is sysadmin a stressful job?

System administrators often work in high-pressure environments that require quick problem-solving and on-call availability, which can lead to stress. The job involves managing critical systems, handling emergencies, and maintaining security, making it potentially demanding but also rewarding for those with strong technical skills. Stress levels vary depending on the organization, workload, and experience.

Job description

Admin/Customer Service Utility Professional

We are seeking a versatile and proactive Admin/Customer Service Utility professional to join our team in a dynamic part-time capacity (25 hours per week). This "utility" role is perfect for a multi-tasker who enjoys variety; you will spend the majority of your time supporting our Customer Service department, while dedicating a few hours each week to essential HR administrative tasks like scanning and filing. This position offers a steady foot in the door with a high-performance team and the potential to transition into a full-time role in the future.

What's In It For You
  • Work-Life Balance: A consistent 25-hour weekly schedule that provides stability without the 40-hour commitment.
  • Career Pathing: Exceptional opportunity to prove your "grit" with the possibility of moving into a full-time position as the company grows.
  • Diverse Exposure: Gain experience in both the front-end (Customer Service) and back-end (HR/Admin) operations of a manufacturing environment.
  • Skill Advancement: Access to training and development to sharpen your professional administrative and technical toolkit.
Responsibilities Include
  • Customer Support: Provide high-quality service by assisting customers with inquiries, orders, and general support needs.
  • HR Administrative Support: Dedicate 2–3 hours per week to maintaining HR integrity through organized scanning, digital filing, and record-keeping.
  • Utility Flexibility: Adapt to daily priorities, shifting between administrative tasks and customer-facing duties as needed.
  • Data Management: Ensure accurate entry of customer information and company records into internal systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth office operations and timely response to client requests.
Skills/Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience in Customer Service is required; experience specifically within a manufacturing environment is highly ideal.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to quickly learn and master new computer software and office systems.
  • Work Ethic: A self-starter with "high-performance grit" who takes ownership of both small tasks (filing) and large tasks (customer issues).
  • Communication: Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-Oriented: Highly organized with a focus on accuracy when handling sensitive HR documentation.
  • Reliability: Disciplined approach to a part-time schedule with a focus on consistent attendance.
Compensation & Benefits

Competitive Pay: Compensation is determined by candidate experience, education, certifications, and specific job-related skills. $25/hr+ depending on position and experience.

Comprehensive Benefits: Includes premium health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and eligibility for an incentive recognition bonus program. Access to training and development to expand your professional certifications.

Apply Today! Ready to take the next step in your career? Join a team that values technical expertise and high-performance grit!

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
