Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacists with prescription processing, sterile compounding activities, medication preparation, patient supply assembly, labeling, quality control activities, inventory management, and documentation.
This role is performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and is vital to ensuring patients receive safe, accurate, and timely infusion therapies.
What You'll Do
  • Assist with processing prescription orders and medication preparation
  • Prepare, package, and distribute medications as prescribed by physicians
  • Assist with sterile compounding of infusion medications
  • Prepare and dispense IV drug therapies and supplies for home infusion patients
  • Create compounding records, labels, delivery tickets, and work orders
  • Assemble patient supplies and equipment
  • Assist in calling and scheduling patient orders, insurance verification activities, and work order preparation
  • Maintain legally required pharmacy records and documentation
  • Set up and calibrate pharmacy equipment, including pumps
  • Assist with inventory control procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment
  • Assist pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and clinical staff with pharmacy services
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations
  • Complete paperwork and computer-related duties accurately and timely

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license required
  • Laboratory, healthcare, or related experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications
  • PTCB Certification or certification through the National Pharmacy Technician Association
  • Home infusion experience
  • Experience with CPR+ or CareTend software
  • Previous sterile compounding experience
  • Healthcare or pharmacy experience

Important Requirements
  • Must maintain an active Texas Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
  • PTCB certification preferred, with certification to be obtained within one year of employment if not already certified
  • Must successfully complete all pharmacy and sterile compounding competencies within the first 90 days of employment
