Responsibilities

ECS is seeking a Senior Code Compliance Project Manager to join our Mid-Atlantic Building Science + Infrastructure team in Fredericksburg, VA. This senior-level role is ideal for a licensed Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in commercial code compliance inspections, mechanical systems, and plan review who is looking to lead complex projects, mentor junior inspectors, and serve as a technical resource for both clients and internal teams. This position offers a mix of project management, technical oversight, client interaction, and field and office responsibilities supporting a variety of public and private sector projects throughout the region.

What You’ll Do:

  • This position involves the senior project management of code compliance projects, including reviewing plans, providing technical support, conducting inspections, daily review or completion of field reports, monitoring project process for performance and budgetary conditions, proposal preparation, as well as attending project site meetings and assisting with the resolution to technical and administrative problems. 
  • In this position you will be expected to mentor and train other less experienced building inspectors. 
  • The Senior Code Compliance Project Manager is expected to be a subject matter expert in code compliance matters and shall be active in local jurisdictional building code/industry activities.
  • Additional duties will include the general project management of code compliance inspection projects as a project manager and senior reviewer using our electronic reporting system.  This includes mentoring and field oversight of code compliance inspectors for higher classification inspections for which the inspectors may not have the ICC certification. 
  • Other duties include marketing of code compliance consulting services to the public sector, client development, proposal preparation, invoicing, and project related field and office work including preparation and review of final reports.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 10+ years of related experience in code compliance inspection of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and/or plan review
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 6 months; Mechanical PE strongly preferred
  • DHCD & ICC Certifications are strongly preferred.  If not current, ability to achieve certification within 1 year is required
