Role Overview

The Design-Build Project Manager (DBPM) oversees the successful delivery of complex transportation and civil infrastructure projects using Alternative Delivery methods. This role integrates design and construction processes while managing costs, schedules, quality, and risk from procurement through final acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preconstruction & Procurement: Support proposal development, coordinate with estimators/designers, and manage joint-venture or teaming arrangements.
  • Design Management: Direct internal/external design teams, ensure schedule alignment, lead constructability reviews, and manage design changes/RFIs.
  • Construction Execution: Provide leadership for on-site execution, collaborate with superintendents, and resolve design-related field issues.
  • Project Controls & Compliance: Manage budgets, cash flow forecasts, and risk registers while ensuring adherence to contracts, permits, and safety regulations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary contact for clients (e.g., DOTs), design partners, and major subcontractors.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 10+ years of heavy-civil or industrial construction experience, specifically with alternative delivery methods (DB, CMGC, P3).
  • Project Scale: Proven track record managing large-scale infrastructure projects valued at >$100M.
