Verdantas is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to support our growing team in Middletown, CT.

In this role, you'll work as part of a collaborative team with an established portfolio of active projects and a people-first culture that values your well-being, empowers your growth, and amplifies your impact. You'll manage a diverse mix of environmental assessment and remediation projects, ranging from fastpaced challenges to multi-year, complex remediation sites, giving you both variety and the opportunity to grow as a Project Manager.

What You'll Do:

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of due diligence assessment, environmental monitoring, and reporting activities for multiple projects in a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate, industrial, institutional, and public sector clients

  • Establish and maintain working relationships with peers, junior staff, clients, and vendors to develop scopes of work, written proposals, and final deliverables

  • Manage field and peer staff, subcontractors, client representatives, and other stakeholders to develop and meet project schedules, milestones, and financial goals for successful project completion

  • Successfully manage and track project budgets and evaluate project profitability

  • Train, supervise, and mentor project staff

  • Prepare, oversee, and review reports that demonstrate sound conceptual site model development, technical writing, and critical thinking skills

  • Utilize knowledge of key State and federal regulations (i.e., the Connecticut Transfer Act, Remediation Standard Regulations, Release-Based Cleanup Program, Toxic Substances Control Act, etc.) and guidance (i.e., CTDEEP Site Characterization Guidance Document)

  • Maintain current knowledge of environmental regulations, technologies, and practices

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a sense of pride, ownership, and commitment to contributing to high-quality end results for our clients

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline

  • 5-10 years of experience in site investigation and remediation, with 2-6 years of project management experience, including proven success in developing and managing project scopes, proposals, timelines, budgets, staffing, and associated deliverables

  • LEP or on track to obtain LEP licensure is preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of Connecticut environmental laws, regulations, and general practices; strong knowledge of federal laws preferred; experience in ASTM/AAI transactional due diligence

  • Experience with proposal preparation accompanied by strong technical writing skills

  • Demonstrated experience with site characterization, environmental sampling techniques, methodologies (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air, etc.), data analysis, remediation technologies, etc.

  • Demonstrated success working on a variety of projects and for a variety of clients

  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment, including active participation in office meetings and working groups, as well as willingness to work with regional or company-wide staff from all levels

  • Demonstrated ability for client satisfaction, including strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience managing staff, subcontractors, and client representatives

  • Ability to adapt and maintain flexibility in the dynamic environment of a growing corporation

  • Proven approach to hold workplace safety in the highest regard, and the ability to abide by company health and safety procedures and initiatives

  • Proficiency, adaptability, and the ability to inspire the use of various software, technology, and digital tools

    Salary Range:

    The compensation range starts at $85,000 annually and may increase based on experience and licensure.
