WhyWe Need You:ย
We are seeking a motivated and mission-driven individual to oversee technical staff working on cleanup programs such CERCLA, RCRA, and voluntary action plans at hazardous waste facilities and federal sites across central and southeast Ohio.ย ย
You'll assign and track workloads, review technical documents, and help ensure the team meets program goals. You'll work closely with DERR and district leadership to set program goals, track and monitor program activities, and report out on progress and achievements.ย
You'll communicate with the public and responsible parties about compliance and cleanup requirements and work with property owners and parties involved in investigations and cleanup of contaminated sites.ย ย
Our program is only as strong as its team, and you'll identify training needs, oversee professional development and performance evaluations of staff, and participate in hiring to ensure staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources.ย
You'll provide technical guidance to other divisions, officials, the industry, and the public. As a division leader, you'll coordinate with other agency programs on environmental issues, help interpret environmental regulations, and participate in topical meetings and outreach efforts.ย ย

Supervise regional staff assigned to cleanup projects for hazardous waste and federal sites.

5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or other comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to Department of Transportation) evaluating & approving complex engineering design plans, conducting most sensitive environmental surveillance activities &/or environmental pollution compliance monitoring inspections, investigating complex public health &/or environmental pollution problems, initiating complex enforcement actions, or assisting in planning, developing & maintaining specific environmental projects & programs; AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding those in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training.
