What is a complex coordinator?

Complex Coordinators are professionals responsible for overseeing the daily operations of multiple properties or departments within a larger organization, such as a hotel group, apartment complexes, or university housing. They coordinate activities, manage staff, and ensure that standards and procedures are consistently followed across all locations in their portfolio. Their role often involves budgeting, scheduling, problem-solving, and acting as a liaison between different teams to ensure seamless operations. Complex Coordinators play a critical role in maintaining efficiency and delivering a high quality of service to clients or residents.

How does a complex coordinator typically interact with different departments within a property or organization?

As a Complex Coordinator, you play a central role in facilitating communication and collaboration between departments such as sales, housekeeping, front desk, and maintenance. Your responsibilities often involve coordinating schedules, managing event logistics, and ensuring all teams are aligned to deliver seamless service. Regular meetings, clear documentation, and prompt issue resolution are key aspects of the role. This cross-departmental interaction helps you build strong professional relationships and develop a broad understanding of operations, which can support future career growth into management roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a complex coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Complex Coordinator, you typically need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in project or facility management, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent work experience. Familiarity with scheduling software, budgeting tools, and facility management systems is commonly required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability are vital soft skills for managing multiple tasks and stakeholders. These skills ensure efficient operations, effective coordination between departments, and the ability to handle the dynamic challenges of complex environments.

Job description

By subFreight Operations Coordinator – Project & Over-Dimensional Freight Jacksonville, FL | Full-Time | Direct Hire $50,000 Base Salary + 10% Commission on Revenue About the Opportunity We are partnering with an established transportation and logistics organization to identify an experienced Freight Operations Coordinator with a strong background in project freight and over-dimensional/oversized transportation. This is an excellent opportunity for a transportation professional who knows how to manage complex freight movements and wants the opportunity to earn additional income through a 10% commission on revenue. You will be working with established freight opportunities and customers, so bringing your own book of business is not required. The focus is on your ability to successfully coordinate, execute, and manage complex shipments. What You'll Do Coordinate project, oversized, and over-dimensional freight shipments from planning through final delivery. Review shipment dimensions, weights, origins, destinations, and transportation requirements. Determine appropriate equipment and transportation solutions for each shipment. Source, qualify, and coordinate carriers capable of handling specialized freight. Negotiate carrier rates and transportation costs. Coordinate permits, routing requirements, escorts, and other specialized transportation needs. Track shipments and proactively communicate with customers, carriers, and drivers. Resolve delays, equipment issues, routing challenges, and other operational problems. Maintain accurate shipment and customer information within transportation systems. Ensure shipments are properly documented and coordinated according to customer requirements. Manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Build strong working relationships with carriers and customers. Identify opportunities to maximize revenue and profitability through effective freight management. What We're Looking For 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, transportation, logistics, dispatch, or freight operations. Hands-on experience with over-dimensional, oversized, project, or specialized freight. Strong understanding of specialized transportation equipment. Experience with flatbed, step-deck, RGN, lowboy, or other specialized equipment is highly preferred. Knowledge of permits, routing restrictions, escorts/pilot cars, and other O/D requirements is strongly preferred. Experience sourcing and negotiating with transportation carriers. Understanding of freight rates, margins, and transportation costs. Strong communication and customer service skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously. Strong computer skills and ability to learn transportation management systems. The Right Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who knows how to move difficult freight. You don't need to be a traditional salesperson, and you do not need to bring an existing book of business. We are looking for someone with the transportation knowledge and operational experience to take complex freight opportunities and successfully coordinate them from beginning to end. You should be comfortable working with carriers, negotiating rates, determining equipment requirements, coordinating permits and routing, communicating with customers, and solving problems when shipments don't go exactly as planned. Compensation $50,000 Base Salary + 10% Commission This compensation structure provides an opportunity to increase your earnings based on the revenue generated through successfully managed freight. Why Consider This Opportunity? Established customer and freight base No book of business required $50K base salary 10% commission Opportunity to work with complex project and specialized freight Opportunity to leverage existing O/D transportation expertise Long-term career opportunity with an established logistics organization If you have experience coordinating over-dimensional, oversized, or project freight and are ready for an opportunity where your operational expertise can directly impact your earning potential, we'd like to hear from you.mitting to this position, you are agreeing to be included in our talent pool for future hiring for similarly qualified positions.
