Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Competitive Market Intelligence Manager to join the HP Solutions Market Insights team. This role is integral to our strategic planning, providing insights into market trends, competitor strategies, and industry developments. In this role you will leverage your extensive knowledge and expertise to conduct end-to-end market research, lead competitive intelligence projects, influence product development roadmaps, and translate industry trends into actionable insights. You will be a key player in driving our business strategy and ensuring our competitive edge in the market.
The role involves overseeing the development and maintenance of competitive intelligence data, participating in primary research projects with approved research vendors, and designing research projects to address business needs. The successful candidate must ensure research activities comply with HP's ethical and legal guidelines, manage research project budgets, and provide mentoring and guidance to lower-level employees.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify intelligence objectives, tools, and analyses required to achieve desired outcomes for large, complex business strategy projects.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to expanding the knowledge base within the area of expertise, including developing new methods, techniques, and criteria for developing market insights and communicating them to the various stakeholder groups.
  • Analyze and interpret market data to guide business strategies.
  • Structure analytical approaches and develop project strategies and intelligence gathering tactics to monitor competitor activities and industry trends.
  • Collaborate across businesses, functions, and regions to align strategy, sales, and product management direction with corporate and divisional OKRs.
  • Develop recommendations for optimizing business and financial performance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and communications to facilitate projects and ensure timely delivery to stakeholders.
  • Consult with business executives on a wide range of issues related to the division's strategic development, including risk management and new growth opportunities.

Qualifications:
  • Typically, 8-12 years total experience with post-advanced degree experience leading projects, negotiating deals, and leading company financial improvement initiatives in management consulting, corporate strategy, IT product management, or market research.
  • Advanced university degree (e.g., MBA) or demonstrable equivalent.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate abstract ideas clearly and independently manage complex project objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of and the ability to manage statistical analysis and financial modeling.
  • Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge within multiple business units, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence.
  • Superior group facilitation, interviewing, and influence skills.
  • Excellent project management skills, including project structuring and managing multiple work streams independently.
  • Strong leadership & relationship management skills, including coaching, team building, conflict resolution, and partnering.
  • Ability to identify and draw on leading-edge analytical tools and techniques to develop creative approaches and new insights to client issues.
  • Ability to independently draft and present client deliverables, recommendations, and strategies.
