Position: Market Intelligence Intern
Department: Business Resources & Education
Reports To: Senior Director, Market Intelligence
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)
Type: Paid Internship (Temporary Part-Time or Temporary Full-Time, depending on candidate availability)
Duration: Up to six months
Compensation: $25 per hour

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Market Intelligence Intern will support ACEC's Senior Director of Market Intelligence in delivering high-quality research, analysis, and administrative coordination across several strategic initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in market research, business development trends, committee operations, and association management within the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry.
The intern will assist with the day-to-day activities of the Market Intelligence Committee, the Business Development & Marketing Forum, and ACEC's broader market research and business resources and education programs. This is an ideal opportunity for a student or early-career professional interested in market analysis, economics, public policy, business development, or the built environment.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
Market Research & Analysis
  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and analyzing economic, industry, and market data relevant to the A/E/C sector.
  • Support the development of market intelligence deliverables, including briefs, presentations, podcasts, education, and reports.
  • Conduct background research on industry trends, client sectors, and business development practices.
  • Help prepare materials for economic updates and other research-driven publications.

Committee & Forum Support
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for the Market Intelligence Committee, including scheduling, agenda preparation, note-taking, and follow-up coordination.
  • Assist in planning and executing meetings, webinars, and virtual discussions for the Business Development & Marketing Forum.
  • Track action items, member engagement, and ongoing initiatives.

Program & Event Support
  • Support the planning and execution of webinars, workshops, and other educational programs related to market intelligence and business development.
  • Assist with speaker research, content preparation, and event logistics.
  • Help maintain program documentation, timelines, and communication materials.

Administrative & Operational Support
  • Assist with email communications, scheduling, and internal coordination.
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration within the Business Resources & Education team.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Current student or recent graduate in economics, business, marketing, public policy, urban studies/planning, data analytics, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information clearly.
  • Excellent writing and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred
  • Interest in the built environment, infrastructure, engineering, or economic policy.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) or Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign).
  • Familiarity with associations, nonprofits, or the A/E/C industry.
