Job Summary and Responsibilities: The Warehouse Associate plays a vital role in supporting our in-kind resource donation process by facilitating the receiving, sorting, and stocking of donated resources under the direction of the Resources Manager. This position requires excellent communication, strong organizational skills, an eye for detail, and a heart of compassion. The Warehouse Associate must be able to follow instructions, receive direction, and perform the duties of the position in an orderly and timely manner.
Other responsibilities will include the following:
  • Assist with sorting, organizing and shelving donated items per the approved prescribed process, including moving donation bins from the point of reception to the warehouse to be sorted
  • Help manage selection, storage, and reallocation of thrift
  • Communicate with the Guest Services team to assess current needs and prioritize efficient and effective restocking and resupply
  • Ensure the resource storage area is clean and organized at all times
  • Be present for volunteers to offer guidance, support, and encouragement in their roles and build a sense of community
  • Work closely with volunteers to maximize efficiency and productivity in handling donated resources
  • Uphold the organization's mission and core values in all interactions and activities at all times while being friendly and hospitable

  • Help manage incoming donated resources by sorting, organizing, and preparing prioritized resources for transportation during our Inclement Weather Operations
Experience/Background:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous experience in a similar role (ex: retail associate, warehouse stocker, warehouse associate, shipping & receiving, etc.), preferably in a nonprofit setting
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Compassionate attitude and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and technology
  • Physically capable of lifting and transporting up to 50 pounds independently, and handling heavier loads with appropriate assistive equipment or team assistance
  • Be flexible and willing to pivot to meet the needs of the organization
