Description: Mahomet-Seymour CUSD #3 is seeking compassionate and dependable Paraprofessionals to support students in the COMPASS classroom. The COMPASS program provides structured academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for students who require additional interventions to be successful in the school setting. The paraprofessional will work closely with certified staff to support student learning, behavior management, and daily classroom routines while helping create a safe, positive, and supportive environment. This position works closely with students who have moderate-severe disabilities within a functional life skills curriculum.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to students in the COMPASS classroom under the supervision of certified staff.
  • Assist with implementing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
  • Support students with classroom assignments, organization, and task completion.
  • Help maintain a structured, calm, and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with behavior monitoring, de-escalation strategies, and reinforcement plans.
  • Supervise students during transitions, breaks, lunch, or other assigned times.
  • Collect and maintain student progress and behavior data as directed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Illinois Paraprofessional License (or Teaching License) or ability to obtain required licensure.
  • Experience working with students with behavioral, emotional, or academic needs preferred.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and boundaries.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and responsive in challenging situations.
  • Applicants must be willing to be trained in crisis prevention and intervention and must pass a physical ability test.

Salary: See attached 2025-2026 Aide Salary Schedule and summary of 2026 Employee Benefits. NOTE: Our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement will expire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and we will be negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the 2026-2027 school year.
