Job description

Position / Title: In-School Suspension Interventionist Bargaining Unit:   ETA Department/Location: Secondary Schools Instruction & Equity Work Days: 184 Reports To: Building Principal JD Revision Date: 07/26/2023 Supervises: N/A

Function / Position Summary

To create an orderly learning environment for students assigned to In-School Suspensions (ISS).

Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Monitor student behavior.
  • Submit accurate attendance.
  • Maintain the daily point sheet.
  • Collect assignments from academic teacher.
  • Supervise students in the completion of assignments.
  • Review assignments at the end of the day to assure completion.
  • Return assignments, tests and quizzes to the teacher.
  • Maintain data collection on student and course demographics for reporting.
  • Align classroom procedures and protocols with building and district goals.
  • Coordinate daily student behavioral activities and enrichments with the supervising administrator.
  • Assist with academic credit recovery processing as it aligns to building expectations (i.e. apex/online proctoring of unit quizzes and tests, online enrichments including keytrain, read 180, compass learning, career cruising and other online credit recovery and enrichment programs).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related subject from accredited university.
  • Illinois teaching certificate.
  • Teaching experience is preferred by not necessary for hiring.
  • CPI/Behavior/Crisis management training preferred

Experience / Knowledge

  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Teaching experience is preferred by not necessary for hiring.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.

Terms of Employment

  • This is a nine-month position (184 work days)
  • Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
