The below represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
  • The role is a multi-faceted one and requires both analytical and interpersonal skill sets
  • 1-2 years previous experience must include financial or operational background (familiarity with financial statements)
  • Comfortable working with large data sets & synthesizing insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Financial, analytical and valuation skills 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and to collaborate with others to drive results
  • Interest in the startup ecosystem
  • Knowledge of Cobalt PM Software or other CRM systems is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree required

In this exciting opportunity, the Portfolio Analyst will work closely with the broader Ventures Team, and various other teams across American Express, to support the monitoring and analysis of Amex's evolving portfolio companies. The Analyst will play a key role in evaluating portfolio company performance, communicating portfolio changes to senior management and ensuring the completion of portfolio management reporting requirements. 

  • Responsible for assisting with quarterly portfolio reporting, including preparing updates for the broader Ventures team and senior management 
  • Assisting with portfolio review and valuation processes (ex. Impairment, Mark-to-Market)
  • Assisting on all controllership, regulatory and compliance deliverables
  • Analyzing data from the portfolio, market, and industry to help provide insights to senior management
  • Helping maintain and manage Ventures' Portfolio database and portfolio management platform 
  • Tracking performance against benchmarks, goal and success metrics 
  • Documenting portfolio and transaction related standards
  • Assisting in the coordination across Finance / Legal / Compliance, and the broader Ventures team, to fulfill reporting requirements 
  • Assist with investment data requests for Ventures' business partners
  • Provide support on new initiatives or projects that can help inform strategy or drive efficiency for the Ventures team
  • Explore ways to automate or improve processes using new tools and AI
