Position Summary:
Prevent drowning and other injuries in the Aquatics Center at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor activities in and near the water through patron surveillance.
- Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations and educate patrons about them.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
- Administer first aid and CPR, including using an automated external defibrillator (AED).
- Work as a team with other lifeguards, facility staff, and management.
- Test the pool water chemistry.
- Assist patrons by performing safety orientations, administering swim tests, fitting lifejackets and other duties.
- Clean or perform maintenance.
- Complete forms and reports.
- Perform opening duties, closing duties, and facility safety checks and inspections.

Education, Training, and Certifications:
Necessary:
- Must be 15 years of age or older
- Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED
Position may require long periods of standing or sitting, working indoors in a variety of environmental conditions, including high temperatures, humidity, moisture, and distracting noises.
Special Requirements
This is a part-time position, up to 28 hours per week. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, depending on the specific need.
