Job description

The Donor Operations department at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and reliable blood supply for cancer patients through successful blood collection events and strong community partnerships. The Recruitment team serves as an important connection between MD Anderson and the community, working with organizations, blood drive coordinators, donors, and public stakeholders to build lasting partnerships and increase participation in blood donation. This Community Representative position offers the opportunity to combine community relationship management, recruitment, customer service, and event coordination to directly support MD Anderson's blood collection goals.

The role is ideal for a relationship-focused professional who enjoys engaging with people, developing partnerships, presenting to groups, and coordinating multiple details to ensure successful blood drive events. In this role, you will develop and maintain relationships with sponsor organizations and blood drive coordinators, implementing effective recruitment strategies to achieve established collection goals. You will work to retain existing accounts, develop new community partnerships, and provide ongoing education, planning, and support to help sponsors host productive and successful blood drive events.

Strong communication and presentation skills are essential to success. You will regularly interact with community organizations, current and potential sponsors, donors, and internal team members, while providing information and responding to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. The ability to confidently present information to large groups and build positive relationships with various audiences will be particularly valuable.

You will also maintain accurate CRM records and account information, track recruitment activities, and help ensure collection events are properly supported. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint will allow you to analyze and present information, create engaging presentations, and maintain accurate recruitment data and reporting. Customer service is a major component of the position.

You will model MD Anderson's Service Excellence standards by communicating professionally, responding promptly to requests, setting clear expectations, soliciting feedback from community partners, and taking ownership of issues through resolution. Your ability to build trust and consistently represent MD Anderson positively will be essential to maintaining strong community relationships. The ideal candidate will have a degree in communication, marketing, education, business, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of experience, preferably in healthcare or program coordination.

Candidates with strong relationship-building, community outreach, event coordination, presentation, and organizational skills will be well positioned for success. Spanish bilingual skills are a plus and may be particularly valuable when engaging with various communities. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Performs all Recruitment Operations Processes according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Implements effective strategies to recruit, manage, and maintain relationships with sponsor organizations to achieve successful blood collection events while also achieving established blood collection goals. Coordinates retention of current accounts, developing new accounts, and fostering strong relationships with account/blood drive coordinators. Interacts and coordinates with work members of the public, actual and potential sponsors of blood drives, and/or donors.

Maintains complete sponsor account information in CRM, accurate record keeping and on-going maintenance of up-to-date account information. Education, planning, and on-going support to account blood drive coordinators to ensure sponsors host successful and productive blood drive events. Manages all customer service interactions with diplomacy, actively facilitating resolutions to problems and addressing needs of clients, both internal and external Embraces and demonstrates the roles and responsibilities of the institutional Service Excellence program Promotes inclusiveness and collegiality by always demonstrating respect and professionalism to others.

Models safe, ethical behavior, mitigating risk to the institution through sound business practices and adherence to MD Anderson's Code of Conduct and institutional policies and procedures. Responds to requests in a timely manner, communicating expectations for procedures, service arrival, or project deliverables to patients, public stakeholders and coworkers. Admits when wrong, apologizes and takes steps to resolve a situation to help our patients and coworkers before being asked.

Solicits feedback from community partners to continually improve the department's customer service efforts. Participates in Training and Development / Quality Assurance as it pertains to Recruitment Processes Maintains competency requirements including continuing education and Donor Operations SOP. Ensures mobile collection activities are efficient and productive to meet departmental goals.

Ensures consistency and accuracy of institution's brand and marketing messages. Maintains donor operations recruitment equipment and materials. Assists in the inventory of appreciation items, ensuring that proper par levels are available for all collection activities.
