Job Title: Student Worker - Urban REAP Education and Community Programs Assistant - Mission Waco

Job Classification: Community Service, Student

Department: Off Campus Community Service

Work Schedule: 10-20 hours/week, flexible working hours

Desired Length of Employment: Fall/Ongoing

Pay Rate: $11.00-12.50/hr

Key Components:

  • In a student employee capacity, may assist in working with external community service partners.

Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION-- Assist Urban REAP Director with Community Programming and Outreach, including our Compost Program, Community Weekend Activities, and our Education Programs. MUST BE ELIGIBLE for FEDERAL WORK-STUDY. This is off-campus employment, so reliable transportation is important.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION--
Creating educational curriculum, materials, and videos for online and onsite access
Plan & implement lesson plans for our after school programming for children & youth
Creating monthly community programming activities ("Discovery Activities") for visitors to do to learn about Urban REAP themes
Researching curriculum & resources to enhance our educational materials onsite & online
Contribute to our social media with regular posts
Create videos or other educational material to share with the community
Assisting with general community outreach
Assisting with other tasks and projects as needed for Urban REAP operations
REQUIRED HARD SKILLS--
Preferred - background in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Biology, Education, Public Health, or similar
Preferred - bilingual Spanish
LEARNING OUTCOMES--
Technical skills, such as composting, plant science, gardening, integrated pest management, organic practices, and soil science
Educational programming, including developing and implementing curriculum and planning and executing community events
Computer systems management, such as Drive, Square, Outlook, and online databases
Interpersonal skills and communication skills with a variety individuals and settings (e.g. store front, education, tours)
Project management, punctuality, responsibility, and professionalism
Hourly Rate: $11-$12.50/hour (depending on new or returning student worker status and/or any recognized special skill level)
