Foster School of Business has an outstanding opportunity for an Inclusion and Community Program Manager to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Inclusion & Diversity the Inclusion and Community Program Manager is responsible for creating and nurturing an inclusive community for graduate students at the Foster School. The position involves development of co-curricular learning experiences and community building activities to accelerate student learning and leadership development, and to promote the Foster School's strategic priority with a lens of "nurturing our internal community" in every decision we make.. The Program Manager will work with student leaders, Program Directors and staff, and faculty to create an inclusive community for students, with a special emphasis on supporting on supporting historically underrepresented students in graduate programs.
The position will require expertise in fostering community, facilitation and communication skills, and program design and implementation skills, creating opportunities for inclusion and belonging to graduate-level students and faculty. Position is responsible for the development and implementation of a variety of co-curricular learning experiences and community building initiatives and operates with a high degree of responsibility. The position requires event planning and program implementation as well as budget management experience. This position has a high level of contact with a broad range of diverse student and faculty populations The position requires a high level of engagement with the ability to strategically develop and promote collaborative programs on behalf of the Foster School of Business.
Key Responsibilities
Development, delivery, and evaluation of "Nurturing Our Internal Community" education and training for graduate-level students (45%):
Develop and deliver ongoing training and other educational programs to strengthen inclusion and belonging for Foster graduate students. When necessary, collaborate with faculty, PhD students, and staff to achieve this objective.
Develop, manage, and lead orientation sessions for graduate students to introduce a framework which emphasizes Foster's values towards inclusion and belonging and illustrates a pathway for student growth and development in this domain.
Serve as a subject matter expert on multi-cultural awareness and develop training and education initiatives which contribute to the values and strategic priorities of the Foster School.
Student Engagement and Community Building (35%)
Work with others across the Foster School (e.g., Undergraduate Diversity Services), to support school-wide inclusion and belonging activities and events.
Build and maintain relationships with UW partners (e.g., UW Law School, Graduate Student Equity & Excellence (GSEE), Professional Schools, etc.).
Work closely with Masters' programs Admissions teams and Program Directors to facilitate a supportive transition for students into the Foster community; with the opportunity to co-lead the Fostering Community and Connections programming for graduate-level students.
Support graduate-level student leaders of historically under-represented clubs.
Support climate/culture survey design and administration in partnership with the Associate Dean for Inclusion & Diversity (ADID).
Support and hold regular listening hours for graduate-level students as needed, in partnership with the Associate Dean for Inclusion & Diversity.
Lead and manage relevant committees and task forces.
Faculty Support for Creating Inclusive Learning Environments (15%)
Serve as a subject matter expert on teaching and learning practices related to inclusion and belonging. Work with faculty, PhD students, and Instructional Services to help instructors develop teaching materials and environments that support inclusion and belonging.
Hold regular office hours and meet with faculty and PhD students to discuss how to develop a culture of inclusion and belonging in the classroom and elsewhere.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least three years in program coordination, student services, event planning or related experience.
Additional Qualifications
As a role model for prospective students, the candidate should have experience engaging actively in the graduate level academic community, and an understanding of the graduate-level student experience. Demonstrated program management experience, including the ability to independently plan, launch, and sustain programming.
Proven ability to work professionally and effectively communicate across various demographics within community organizations, colleges, and the business community (e.g., the Dean and Foster School Leadership, students, alumni, faculty, staff, business partners, and vendors).
Proven expertise in working with and supporting faculty, including discussing issues related to inclusion and belonging.
Demonstrated experience in working with and supporting individuals from historically under-represented communities.
Experience partnering and supporting faculty on teaching and learning practices related to inclusion and belonging, curriculum design, or classroom facilitation in a higher education setting.
Experience effectively navigating sensitive conversations with empathy and respect.
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, including public speaking, facilitation, and conflict resolution.
Experience in managing programs and event budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in business or related field
Experience with survey design and data collection methods. Experience with project management tools and processes.
Familiarity with the administrative structure of a large university, facilitation and/or teaching experience, bilingual.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily in person but hybrid eligible. Flexibility with work hours for students and campus events on evenings and weekends is required.
