Job description

TITLE: Parents as Teachers Home Visitor
QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Minimum BA degree in Early Childhood or related field
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and/or families.

REPORTS TO: Program Manager
LOCATION: Kent/Sussex Counties. Office at the Delaware Early Childhood Center (DECC)
JOB GOALS: Parents as Teachers Home Visitors work with DECC Staff, families and community partners to provide regular high-quality home visits and socializations to children and families prenatal to age 5.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The PAT Home Visitor role supports children and families through regular home visits, that focus on child development, parent-child interaction, family well-being, development center parenting, socializations, screenings, resources and goal setting. 




  1. Ensure that the program meets or exceeds Parents as Teachers and National Center standards.
  2. Assist families with connecting to resources and goal setting
  3. Schedule and conduct required regular home visits.
  4. Keep accurate and timely documentation of progress per program requirements

2. Work with Supervisor, Senior staff and other DECC and community programs to provide additional support services to families through socialization and community engagement.

  1. Organizes group meetings that give parents information on child development, health, safety, parenting, and community services.
  2. Participate, plan and implement socializations and Group events for families, offering day, evening and weekend opportunities.
  3. Participate in program recruitment.

3. Facilitate and participate in professional developmental and education.

  1. Attend continuing /annual in services/education as appropriate
  2. Participate in all mandatory trainings required by the Department of Education or Program Manager.

4. Other Duties as assigned by Program Manager and Grantee and/or required by Head Start Standards. 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The parent educator will be trained and have experience in the Parents as Teachers curricula, both Foundational 1 and Foundational 2.  Flexible schedule with availability and adaptability to provide day, evening and occasional weekend home visits and socializations.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Parents as Teachers Home Visitor is a full-time, salaried position and shall be employed up to twelve months per year, based on need and funding. Salary is based on $25.77/rate.
EVALUATION: The Parents as Teachers Home Visitor will be evaluated annually by the supervisor according to the polices approved by the Lake Forest Board of Education. 
The following are conditions of employment for new employees:





  1. Satisfactory criminal background check prior to being placed on payroll.
  2. Satisfactory child protection registry check.
  3. Mandatory direct deposit of pay.
  4. Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
