Job description

The Community Resource Assistant supports Just Compassion's programs by coordinating donation pickups and deliveries, assisting participants with transportation to community resources, and providing operational support across shelter and program sites. This position helps ensure resources are distributed efficiently, participants can access essential services, and organizational facilities remain welcoming and functional.
Essential Duties
  • Supports donation collection, inventory coordination, and resource distribution across organizational programs.
  • Provides transportation assistance to participants accessing community services, appointments, and approved activities.
  • Assists with facility, shelter, and administrative support tasks as needed.

Job Functions
  • Coordinate donation pickups and deliveries from community partners, businesses, and donors.
  • Transport donated items, supplies, and resources between shelter, office, and program locations.
  • Assist with organizing, tracking, and distributing donated goods and maintaining resource storage areas.
  • Provide safe, respectful transportation for participants to appointments, community services, and approved activities.
  • Support participant access to healthcare, housing, educational, and other essential community resources.
  • Maintain a welcoming and professional environment while transporting participants and interacting with community partners.
  • Conduct basic vehicle inspections and report maintenance, safety concerns, or incidents promptly.
  • Assist with front desk coverage, including greeting visitors, answering basic questions, and directing inquiries.
  • Support shelter and facility operations through setup, organization, light cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with movement of supplies, furniture, equipment, and materials between organizational locations.
  • Maintain accurate records related to transportation, donations, deliveries, mileage, and inventory activities.
  • Follow agency policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and participant service standards.
  • Apply trauma-informed care, cultural humility, harm reduction, and housing-first principles in all interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational operations.

Qualifications
  • Valid Oregon driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Just Compassion Driver Training Program.
  • Ability to safely operate agency vehicles and transport participants, supplies, and donated goods.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move donated items, supplies, and equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, customer service, nonprofit, shelter, or social service settings.
  • Familiarity with community resources and services available to individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience coordinating donations, inventory, or resource distribution.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and operational priorities.
