  • Full-Time - On-Site
  • Hourly rates between $40-46/hour based on experience

Responsibilities
• Assist parents in understanding their children's abilities and disabilities using appropriate
assessment tools and goal development. (Essential)
• Stay current with clinical, theoretical, and educational research as well as state and
federal regulations for visually-impaired programs. (Essential)
• Provide in-service education about programs for the visually impaired to district
personnel and parents. (Essential)
• Attend staff meetings and in-services as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
• Special education programs for visually-impaired students.
• Methods and strategies for assessing and teaching visually-impaired students from birth through age 21.
• Current special education laws, regulations, and case law.
• Braille instruction.
Ability to:
• Work effectively with visually-impaired students.
• Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and related agencies.
• Plan teaching strategies and set appropriate objectives to enhance access to the core curriculum and meet state standards.
• Analyze and evaluate assessments and diagnostic information.
• Express ideas effectively both verbally and in writing, including writing summaries, evaluations, and reports.
• Design and conduct in-service training for district staff and parents.
• Explore, develop, and implement public and community program options.
