Job description

The Marketing Coordinator supports the execution of Santa Fe Animal Shelter's marketing efforts across digital, print, and web platforms. This role is responsible for coordinating content creation, assisting with design and creative projects, and supporting reporting and analytics to help ensure timely, consistent, and impactful storytelling. Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and the Outreach Coordinator, the Marketing Coordinator helps maintain brand standards, organize and manage visual assets, and ensure key metrics are effectively documented and tracked.
Primary Responsibilities
Marketing:
  • Support the creation and publication of monthly blog content, including drafting, formatting, and scheduling.
  • Support creation and publication of social media content
  • Assist with the development and execution of email appeals, including copy support, basic design, and coordination with the marketing team and outside vendors.
  • Compile and organize monthly, quarterly, and annual marketing analytics and performance reports.
  • Maintain and update website content, including managing and posting events.
  • Assist with general administrative and coordination tasks that support the marketing and communications team.

Creative and Design:
  • Assist with the creation of monthly print advertisements, in alignment with annual marketing contracts and brand guidelines.
  • Support video and multimedia projects in collaboration with the Senior Marketing Manager.
  • Support the development and organization of photo and video assets for digital use.
  • Assist the Senior Marketing Manager with the creation, updating, and maintenance of Canva templates and participate in brand training as needed.
  • Edit, organize, and maintain photo and video assets within the Shelter's content database.
  • Help ensure all creative materials align with established brand standards and messaging.

Cross Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager to support creative projects, maintain brand consistency, and assist with design tools, templates, and training.
  • Coordinate photo, video, and visual assets for digital campaigns and content scheduling.
  • Partner with Development and Programs staff to gather information, stories, and assets that support appeals, events, and campaigns.
  • Assist with community outreach events by supporting preparation, coordination, on-site marketing needs, and follow-up communications.
  • Communicate with internal teams to ensure marketing needs, timelines, and approvals are clearly understood and met.
  • Support cross-departmental projects by tracking deliverables, sharing updates, and helping ensure projects stay on schedule.

Relationships:
  • Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with internal departments to support marketing needs and ensure clear, respectful communication.
  • Serve as a helpful point of contact for basic marketing requests, routing questions and materials to appropriate team members as needed.
  • Assist with coordination and communication with external vendors, contractors, and creative partners under the guidance of the Senior Marketing Manager.
  • Support relationships with sponsors and partners by assisting with asset delivery, acknowledgments, and promotional materials.
  • Represent the organization professionally and positively in all communications, reinforcing trust, consistency, and the shelter's mission.

Requirements
  • At least 2 years of paid working experience in direct marketing, communications, graphic design, journalism, or a related field required
  • At least 1 year of social media content development and execution experience required,
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity, tone, and accuracy.
  • Basic design skills and familiarity with Canva or similar design tools.
  • Comfort working with digital platforms such as websites, email marketing tools, and social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of marketing analytics and reporting, or willingness to learn.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow brand guidelines and established processes.
  • Proficiency in MS365 and Teams or similar productivity tools.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Exposure to nonprofit, animal welfare, or mission-driven work is a plus, but not required.
  • Availability to work occasional weekends as needed for community outreach events, campaigns, or shelter activities.
