Position Summary:ย 

The Program Associate for theโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏProgram is a unique position that supports the design, coordination, and implementation of leadership development and community-based initiatives within the San Francisco Foundationโ€™sโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏFellowship Program.โ€ฏThis role works closely with theโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏDirector and Community Impact leadership to advance strategies that strengthen neighborhoods, support emerging leaders, and activate alumni networks across the Bay Area.โ€ฏย 

The Program Associate is an individual contributor who supports key functional areas of theโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏProgram, including cohort management, community engagement, strategic grantmaking support, and program evaluation. The position provides high-levelโ€ฏproject management supportโ€ฏand minimalโ€ฏadministrativeโ€ฏfunctionsโ€ฏwhile also leading specific areas of work such as fellowship coordination, stakeholder engagement, and cross-departmental collaboration.โ€ฏย 

Boundariesย ย 

The Program Associate sits within theโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏProgram, a keyโ€ฏprogramโ€ฏof the Community Impact department. The Community Impact department develops and implements strategies toย advance the Foundationโ€™s equity agenda through grantmaking, community partnerships, leadership development, convenings, and policy engagement.โ€ฏย 

This role supports theโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏDirector in ensuring the effective delivery of program strategies, including leadership developmentโ€ฏtrainings, neighborhood partnerships, and alumni engagement efforts, to maximize impact in low-income and underserved communities across the Bay Area.โ€ฏย 

Authorityย ย ย 

The Program Associate reports to theโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏDirector. Under their direction, the Program Associate will support and lead programmatic activities related to fellowship coordination, community engagement, and program operations.โ€ฏย 

This role regularly collaborates withโ€ฏadditionalโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏstaff,โ€ฏCommunity Impact staff, as well as cross-functional teams such as Donor Services, Communications,โ€ฏandโ€ฏGrants Administration.โ€ฏThe position also engages externally with fellows, alumni, community partners, and other stakeholders.โ€ฏย 

Roleย ย ย 

The role of the Program Associate is to support the development and implementation of theโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏProgramโ€™s leadership developmentโ€ฏtrainingsโ€ฏand community engagement strategies.โ€ฏย 

  • Supports the planning, coordination, and implementation ofโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏfellowship cohorts and related programming.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Provides project management support for program activities, including timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder coordination.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Nurtures program culture byโ€ฏmaintainingโ€ฏa holistic view of cohort needs, alumni engagement, and community relationships.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Supports strategic and aligned grantmaking processes connected toโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏProgram goals.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Collaboratesโ€ฏwith internal teams (e.g., Donor Services, Communications, Grants Administration) to elevate program impact and storytelling.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Participates in special projects, including outreach, convenings, and alumni activation efforts.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 

Tasksย ย 

  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and ongoing support forโ€ฏKoshlandโ€ฏfellows.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Assistโ€ฏin planning and executing fellowship sessions, retreats, and community-based activities.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with fellows, alumni, community-based organizations, and local stakeholders.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Support outreach and selection processes for fellows andโ€ฏneighborhoods.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Organize and support community engagement efforts, including listening sessions and convenings.โ€ฏย 
  • Collect, track, and analyze program data to support evaluation, learning, and impact reporting.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Contribute to storytelling, reports, and communications materials that highlight program outcomes.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Develop and manage project timelines, contacts, contracts, and budgets.โ€ฏย 
  • Support cross-team collaboration to align program efforts with broader Foundation initiatives.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Assistโ€ฏwith grantโ€ฏmaking;โ€ฏidentify, reviewโ€ฏapplicationsโ€ฏand recommend approvalsโ€ฏย 

Competencies & Qualificationsย ย 

  • 2 to 4 years (or 3+ years) of relevant experience in community development, nonprofit programs, or related fields.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Strong understanding of racial equity,โ€ฏandโ€ฏequityโ€ฏinclusion principles.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skillsย 
  • Collaborative and adaptableโ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Demonstrated abilities building successful relationships with local leaders and organizations; engage people from diverse backgrounds; and synthesize and articulate (orally and in writing) a wide breadth of information to internal and external stakeholders.ย 
  • Experience collaborating across teams and managing multi-stakeholder projects.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Analytical skills, including the ability to collect and interpret data for decision-making and reporting.โ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Familiarity with the Bay Area, its history, and the realities of the regionโ€™s residents - through intellectual, professional, and lived experience โ€“ particularly with a clear racial equity lens.ย 
  • Committed to building resilient organizations and providing technical assistance.ย

Technical abilities and skillsย ย 

  • Intermediate to advanced computer/software skills, including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, & Teams) and Zoom.ย ย 
  • Ability to learn, navigate and manage online platforms, including Fluxx, Qliksense, Smartsheet, Salesforce, Blackbaud, and Power Planย
