Job description

The Boston University Clinical and Translational Science Institute (BU CTSI is seeking to hire Three Program Managers to join our Program Manager's Collaborative, a team-based approach to program management that fosters shared responsibility, collaborative decision-making, and alignment with organizational priorities.

The Collaborative is comprised of seven Program Managers who work across the BU CTSI to support our vision: to pioneer a sustainable, inclusive research ecosystem that stimulates novel approaches to Translational Science, which in turn accelerates research that brings therapeutic agents and interventions more efficiently and effectively to all patients.

The BU CTSI supports this vision by fostering collaboration and innovation in the generation of reproducible, groundbreaking scientific knowledge, then accelerating dissemination and implementation across translational science.

The Program Managers provide comprehensive program support for BU CTSI programs across the following focus areas:

  1. Community Engagement
  2. Workforce Development 
  3. Data Science
  4. Services & Resources
  5. AI projects and overall technical support (works across all modules)

The PM Collaborative works together as a learning community to ensure that program needs align with stated objectives and participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Dissemination & Implementation (D&I) teams.

Areas of responsibility include:

Dissemination & Implementation:

As part of the Collaborative, the Program Manager will apply a multilevel approach across the broader community, our Partner the Boston Medical Center, our Main Collaborator VA Boston, Stakeholders and the CTSA Network to ensure impactful communication of BU CTSI initiatives, research outcomes, and institute achievements.

Program/Module Specific Responsibilities:

Provide program management support for the BU CTSI's Various programs (Community Engagement; Workforce Development; Data Science and Services and Resources) In addition, this position provides administrative and grant support and works on special projects as needed.


Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent work experience in program management.
  • 2 years of related program management experience, preferably in academic, healthcare, or research settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Extensive experience with stakeholder engagement, team and relationship building.
  • Strong project planning, administration, and management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills for working with data and datasets.
  • Experience and proficiency with AI/Chat technology.
  • Experience managing complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt messaging for various audiences.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and social media management tools.
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with visual content creation tools. (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency with social media management platforms and analytics tools.
  • Experience with content management systems and website updates.
  • Comfort with data entry and database management.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and newsletter management tools.

Required Experience & Demonstrated Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Experience creating engaging written and visual content.
