Job Summary
The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that increase revenue, donations, partnerships, and community engagement for a nonprofit thrift store. This position focuses on building relationships with donors, corporations, community organizations, residential communities, property managers, and other stakeholders to secure donations, sponsorships, and business opportunities that support the organization's mission and financial sustainability.
The Community Engagement Manager serves as a key ambassador for the organization, identifying growth opportunities and creating strategic partnerships that increase donated goods, customer traffic, and mission awareness.
Primary Responsibilities
Donation Development
  • Develop and execute donation acquisition strategies to increase the volume and quality of donated goods.
  • Establish relationships with corporations, retailers, hotels, property management companies, moving companies, estate planners, and community organizations, just to name a few.
  • Coordinate donation drives and community collection events with volunteer teams.
  • Develop programs to encourage recurring individual and corporate donors.
Partnership Development
  • Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with businesses, chambers of commerce, schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups.
  • Represent the organization at networking events, trade shows, and community meetings.
Community Outreach
  • Create outreach initiatives to increase awareness of the thrift store and nonprofit mission.
  • Coordinate door hanger, direct mail, and community canvassing campaigns.
  • Deliver presentations to community groups and businesses regarding donation programs and mission impact.
  • Ensure all partnerships align with organizational values and goals.
Revenue Growth
  • Identify new revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Recommend strategies to increase donor acquisition, customer traffic, and sales.
Marketing Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to develop promotional campaigns, marketing materials, donor communications, and community outreach content.
  • Support Marketing Team with social media and public relations efforts related to partnerships and donation initiatives.
Data Tracking and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of donor and partner activities within CRM systems.
  • Track key performance indicators
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for leadership
Skills and Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Fashion or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of business development, sales, fundraising, nonprofit development, or community relations experience.
  • Experience building corporate partnerships and donor relationships.
  • Experience in retail, thrift, nonprofit, or social enterprise environments preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
