Job Description
The Fetal Care Program Manager coordinates and oversees all aspects of care for families whose babies are diagnosed with medical concerns before birth, while also building and growing the program itself. As a newly established role, the Program Manager partners with physician and administrative leadership to develop an integrated, family-centered fetal care program.
The Fetal Care Program Manager works closely with the multidisciplinary teams responsible for referrals, coordination of maternal-fetal and pediatric specialty visits, and supporting families through complex testing, consultations, and treatment plans. The role includes developing workflows, policies, and referral pathways; monitoring volumes, outcomes, and patient experience; and using this data to refine services and demonstrate value to leadership. This individual helps establish meaningful metrics and communicates program progress to support accountability, strategic decision-making, and future program growth.
A key focus is relationship management with external stakeholders-such as obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine practices, and community hospitals-through outreach, education, and consistent communication to build trust and maintain referral networks. Success in this role requires strong communication, relationship-building, and collaboration across disciplines and institutions.
The Fetal Care Program Manager often collaborates on marketing strategies, business plans, and budget considerations, balancing clinical needs with operational efficiency and growth goals. The Program Manager also helps identify opportunities for innovation and program development.
A clinical background is not required but can be helpful in understanding medical information, supporting family education, and communicating effectively with clinical partners. Experience in healthcare operations, women's and children's services, maternal-fetal medicine, neonatal care, complex care coordination, or multidisciplinary programs is highly desirable. Prior exposure to a fetal center or similar program is considered an asset but is not required.
