THE BIG PICTURE

Community Bible Church (https://www.cbcpalmyra.org) is seeking a full-time Pastor.


Senior Pastor

The Senior Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the church and is responsible for spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and overall administration, in accordance with Community Bible Church By-laws. The Senior Pastor’s overall responsibility, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to lead members and attendees to a closer and deeper relationship with God, and as such, this role requires a deep commitment to faith, effectively preaching the word of God, strong leadership, and a passion for guiding the congregation in spiritual growth. We are looking for a candidate who conforms to the qualifications established in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.



Requirements

Biblical:

• Demonstrates a mature, vibrant relationship with Christ, through a life of humility, integrity, and prayer.

• Approachable and committed to seeking biblical solutions to problems that arise with staff, members, and attendees.

• In agreement and supports Community Bible Church’s Statement of Faith and Constitution.

Leadership

• Actively builds relationships with lay leadership, staff, and church members to disciple, equip, support, and encourage them in their faith.

• Displays a servant-hearted and teachable spirit, following through on reasonable expectations presented to him.

• Articulates a collaborative vision for Community Bible Church to include most importantly Leadership Development.

• Exhibits a heart for pastoral care and the ability to provide compassionate and empathetic support to congregation members in times of need.

Professionally

• Master’s degree in Divinity

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a pastor.

Personal

• Relational and personable, loves to be with people.

• Humble

• Excellent communicator both written and verbal.

Position Title: Senior Pastor

Reports To: Elder Board/Congregation

Position Status: Full-Time

The following are key responsibilities that Community Bible Church is seeking in a Senior Pastor.


Spiritual Leadership

• Prepare and deliver Christ-centered, expository preaching of Bible-based sermons each week, on Sundays and other days as required.

o Lead regular teaching opportunities such as Bible studies and classes.

o Ensure doctrinal integrity in all church teaching and content.

• Collaborate with ministerial staff and worship teams to coordinate a cohesive and spiritually meaningful weekly worship service.

• Prepare Bible studies and teachings that are biblically sound (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and relevant to our congregation.

• Develop, execute, and communicate the church’s mission and vision by aligning ministerial activities with the church’s overall goals for spiritual and physical growth.

Pastoral Care

• Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to congregation members, in collaboration with ministerial staff and lay leadership.

• Actively participate in visitation to members in hospitals, nursing homes, and private residences. Offer support and prayer during these visits to provide comfort and spiritual care.

• Assist those in need of special counseling outside of his own ability, making sure they will be lovingly provided for.

• Officiate significant church events, weddings, funerals, and baptisms.

• Promote and foster a sense of community within the congregation and encourage outreach efforts to the wider community.

• Address difficult issues and conflict in a timely manner, taking the risks necessary to provide healing through healthy church relationship and communication.


Administrative Duties

• Oversee and coordinate ministerial staff, including pastors and associate pastors, ministry leaders, and church staff.

• Meet with the church diaconate and lay leadership regularly.

• Regularly attend staff and committee meetings.

• Collaborate with lay leadership to manage church budget and financial resources.

• Ensure compliance with Church policies and procedures.

• Moderate Church Business Meetings and the Elders/Church Board.

• Mentor both the Elders and others toward the gospel ministry.

Job Qualifications

• Master’s degree, preferably a Master of Divinity, from an accredited evangelical seminary.

• Five or more years of experience in pastoral ministry in a role that involved preaching and supervision of staff.

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a consistent spiritual walk.

• Meets the biblical qualifications for Elders (1 Tim. 3:1–7; Titus 1:6–9).

• Willing to participate in educational and enrichment opportunities.

• Citizen of the United States.
