About Community Life

Community Life (CL) is The Community Builders (TCB)'s place-based model that uses healthy and stable housing as a platform for connecting residents to services, community resources and opportunities so they can thrive. By creating programs and building strategic partnerships with residents and local stakeholders, CL helps create pathways to opportunities in early education, economic mobility, youth development, community engagement, voter registration, healthy living, and resident leadership.

The Community Life Coordinator role at TCB

Reporting to the CL Director for New England, the Community Life Service Coordinator (SC) develops and coordinates support services for residents at Lyman Terrace in Holyoke. The SC will ensure resident and community success through close work with property management, building and sustaining relationships with local and regional partners, planning programs and other on-site opportunities for residents, and working one-on-one with residents to assist them in achieving their goals. This position also supports a collaboration between TCB and the Food Bank of Western MA, who provide food and support for the sites food pantry. This role is required to be on site 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with residents to better understand their needs and aspirations and connect them with local resources and opportunities.

Develop strategic partnerships with local service providers; bring programs to the property and

  • Collaborate with TCB property management to develop annual one-year workplans outlining strategies, partnership development and activities that fit into the sites strategic objectives.
  • Conduct the Community Life Questionnaire
  • Develop an annual Community Success Plan, a strategic work plan that includes strategies, activities and partners necessary to impact CL outcomes
  • Conduct new welcome orientations for new residents
  • Create consistent outreach and communication with residents, including monthly newsletters, flyers, telephone calls and door knocking
  • Use of TCB's data collection and analysis systems, CL Connect and Power BI, to document services provided to residents and outcomes achieved
  • Participation and coordination of resident support and resources around housing stabilization issues such as late rent payments, housekeeping and other lease compliance issues
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, at least 12 hours per year that pertain to the CLSC position
  • Recruit and lead volunteers and interns to assist at the property
  • Attend regular supervision meetings, and site team meetings
  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested

  • Strong personal initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Bachelors degree in social work or related field with 5+ years of related experience preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker required
