Job description

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will develop new skills, work in a safety-minded environment, and join us in expanding technology nationwide while seeing our beautiful country! Responsibilities

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will support all phases of utility construction for various telecom projects across Minnesota and Wisconsin. You take pride in doing the job right, working safely, and delivering high-quality results.

In addition, you will:

  • Support crew productivity while maintaining strict safety standards around underground utilities
  • Operate light and heavy construction equipment including backhoes, trenchers, cable plows, hydraulic reel trailers, and other machinery
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance as required
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues as they arise to keep work on schedule
  • Read and interpret utility locates and above-ground markers to ensure safe and efficient excavation
  • Travel within MN and WI approximately 50% of the time on various project sites
  • Work 50+ hours per week as needed to meet project demands
  • Able to operate dozers, primarily a Plowcat/Pullcat, for utility installation and right-of-way construction work

Qualifications

About You: 

  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in utility or civil construction preferred
  • Experience operating dozers, with specific experience on Plowcat/Pullcat equipment strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate additional equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, mini-and cable plows a plus
  • Strong understanding of safe excavation practices and utility locate interpretation
  • Ability to read and follow construction plans, utility maps, and field drawings
  • Experience working around underground utilities in active job sites
  • Willingness to travel within MN and WI (~50% of the time) and work 50+ hours per week as needed
  • Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record past 3 years (CDL preferred)
  • Travel Details:

    · Monday through Friday travel expected.

    · Per diem 5 days a week.

    · 50+ hours per week. Overtime applies after 40 hours per week. Work is weather dependent.
