Senior Cyber Program Manager

Do you have a passion for technology, influencing at all levels, and leading change for the better? If so, we have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Cyber Program Manager within the Cyber Execution and Transformation team at Capital One. Our team is fast paced and composed of motivated team members. We are seeking a Program Manager who is highly organized and process focused who will enable continued delivery on some of our technology organization's top priorities. The ideal candidate will have experience with problem solving, critical thinking ability and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.


As a Senior Manager of Program Management in Capital One's Cyber organization, we're looking for someone that can help us deliver Cyber capabilities that will help Capital One customers to have incredible, secure experiences. Examples of potential capabilities include AI, Data Protection, Cyber Operations and Security Information and Event Management, Cloud Security, and Cyber Governance and Risk. There is an opportunity to be a people leader for a team of program managers.


Our Sr. Managers have:

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills

  • A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker

  • Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives

  • Background in Cyber or Cloud implementations

  • Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results

  • Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle

  • Exceptional cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done.

  • Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 6 years of experience in program management

  • At least 3 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a related technical (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or Program Management field

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing

  • 3+ years of experience delivering Cybersecurity solutions and capabilities

  • 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture using AWS

  • 3+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products and platforms

  • 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery

  • 7+ years experience delivering large and complex programs owning the business or technical vision, collaborating with large cross-functional teams, securing commitments on deliverables, and unblocking teams to land business impact

  • 2+ years of experience implementing Cyber Operations technologies

  • 1+ year of experience building systems and solutions within a highly regulated environment

  • 1+ year of experience working with AI technologies

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr Manager, Project Management


Richmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr Manager, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
