Job description

Summary:
Yelp is a community-driven platform that connects people with great local businesses and helps them get things done. By combining authentic human content and advanced AI, Yelp helps people move seamlessly from discovery to taking action, whether it's requesting quotes, making reservations, ordering food, scheduling appointments, or connecting with the right businesses for their needs. We're seeking a motivated new graduate for a 6-month remote internship.
As a Communications Intern at Yelp, you'll join a supportive and collaborative team working on high-impact product, consumer, business, and corporate communications initiatives. We're looking for someone who combines tenacity and meticulous attention to detail with a team-oriented mindset-and, most importantly, a passion for Yelp's mission. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public relations. Along the way, you'll strengthen your foundational communications skills, learn how to effectively leverage AI tools, and gain valuable experience at a nationally recognized consumer brand.
This 6-month internship is a paid, full-time remote position based in the United States.
What you'll do:
  • Analyze media coverage trends and sentiment using media monitoring tools to inform strategy and produce insights-driven recaps for campaigns.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support communications initiatives with actionable recommendations to inform our strategy.
  • Prepare media lists, briefing documents, pitch templates, image research, and more to support media opportunities and campaign execution.
  • Learn to prompt, operate, and optimize AI tools in accordance with the Communications team's guidelines and practices.
  • Coordinate PR team operations, including owning meeting agendas, drafting internal newsletters, and more.

What it takes to succeed:
  • Recent graduates, preferably with a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
    • Candidates must have the availability to commit to a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 6-month internship.
  • Experience from previous public relations or communications internships, particularly at an agency, is preferred.
  • Confident communicator: You have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop organized, professional, and concise written materials.
  • Organized and resourceful: You're able to prioritize, while working effectively within a fast-paced environment on a distributed team.
  • Proactive problem-solver: You think two steps ahead, anticipating questions and issues before they arise, and are comfortable taking initiative.
  • News enthusiast: You have your pulse on what's trending and have a knack for identifying opportunities to engage.
  • Curious and creative: You love a good brainstorm, and are driven by a passion for learning new skills and embracing new technologies.
  • Team player: Your positive attitude and collaborative nature help you excel at building and maintaining relationships with your colleagues.
  • Experience with AI tools is strongly preferred, and familiarity with media monitoring tools like Muck Rack, TVEyes, Zignal Labs, etc. is a plus.

What you'll get:
Compensation range for this position is $27 to $30 per hour.
