ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

The Ali Forney Center (AFC) is dedicated to protecting LGBTQ+ youth from the harms of homelessness and empowering them with the tools needed to live independently. Founded in 2002, AFC provides comprehensive services, including housing, healthcare, and educational support to over 2,000 youth annually. AFC's mission is to create an affirming and supportive environment where LGBTQ+ youth can thrive.

POSITION Overview

The Ali Forney Center (AFC) is seeking a Contract and Foundation Accountant to manage government contracts, staff allocations, and financial reporting in alignment with AFC’s mission to support LGBTQ+ homeless youth. The ideal candidate will have experience in contract management, government vouchering, and budget oversight for funding sources including DYCD, DOH, HUD, SAMHSA,  OTDA and other federal, city, and state government agencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contract Management & Vouchering:
  • Oversee and manage all financial reporting and compliance related to government contracts, ensuring timely and accurate vouchering for DYCD, DOH, HUD, SAMHSA,OTDA  and other government agencies.
  • Prepare, review, and submit contract vouchers in accordance with funder requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain thorough and organized financial records, ensuring documentation aligns with agency and funder policies.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of contract budgets, modifications, and renewals.
  • Monitor contract expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets and funder guidelines.
Staff Allocations & Budget Management:
  • Develop and manage staff allocation plans in conjunction with administration and program heads, ensuring personnel costs are appropriately charged to contracts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff allocation records and update allocations based on program and contract changes.
  • Collaborate with program and administrative leadership to manage contract budgets and align financial resources with organizational needs.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses for internal review and funder reporting.
Financial Oversight & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all government contract requirements, including financial regulations and audit preparedness.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly budget meetings to review financial performance, identify issues, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Work closely with external auditors and funders during audits and site visits, providing necessary financial documentation and responses.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to align general ledger transactions to contract billing and vouchering needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of financial controls and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in contract management.

  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis tools).
  • Experience managing multi-funder budgets and complex funding streams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
