Title: Part-Time Editorial Assistant

Purpose: To enhance organizational communication by creating and distributing engaging content for internal and external audiences. Ensure timely, accurate messaging through email blasts, newsletters, and communication boards, while supporting marketing, event planning, and public relations efforts. This role helps maintain a consistent, professional image and supports the organization's mission and goals.

Position Requires: We are looking for a candidate with strong emotional intelligence (EQ) and a proactive approach to communication and brand management. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Reports to: Communications Manager

Job Functions:

  1. Content Development
    • Assists in drafting and formatting content for internal and external communication channels.
    • Conducts research to support content development and ensure factual accuracy.
  2. Content Editing and Proofreading:
    • Assists in the review of written materials, including newsletters, brochures, press releases, and social media posts, for grammar, punctuation, clarity, and style consistency.
    • Assists in the review/update of bus and train schedules, system map, and signs for biannual service changes.
    • Ensures all content adheres to the agency's editorial guidelines and branding standards.
  3. Publication Support:
    • Coordinates with designers and other team members to finalize and distribute publications.
    • Formats documents and materials for print and digital use
  4. Administrative Assistance:
    • Maintains editorial and production calendars and tracks deadlines for projects.
    • Organizes and archives communication materials, including digital files and hard copies.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Works with various departments to gather necessary information for publications.
    • Provides input and feedback during team brainstorming sessions.
  6. Quality Assurance:
    • Perform final reviews of communication materials before publication to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
    • Assist in testing web-based or interactive content for readability and functionality.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned
    • Serves as backup for distribution clerk as needed.
    • Works additional hours as needed for special projects/events/conferences.

Recommended preparation for employment:
